We personally match you with an instructor best suited for your needs and skill level, both of which may evolve over time. We make adjustments along the way.
2 • Schedule a weekly lesson time that works for you
Our Instructors are available every day of the week 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. You may start on Tuesdays, then adjust to Wednesdays as your families’ schedule adjusts.
3 • We come to your home (Zoom lessons also available)
No need to shuttle your little musicians around the OC. We bring the lessons to your home where you can avoid the drive, while overhearing the progress in the comfort of your home.

Voice
Voice is a unique and challenging instrument. Our instruction is available in styles from opera to pop and everything in-between.
Performance Recordings
Particularly for our Vocal students, but any of our students can opt in for periodic professional studio recordings of the songs they are working on.
Band Rehearsals
We love working with budding young bands! Weekly band rehearsals in your home. We even help connect you to other musicians to build a group of budding musicians to grow with. > More info

A Few of our music instructors
Paul and Kim Dexter seek out instructors whose passion for music flows down to their students. Dexter Music prides itself in its wide range of teaching personalities sharing a common strength in their ability to relate and inspire. Playing an instrument at a high level is one thing. Instilling that skill into a young open mind is something else altogether.
EMMANUEL MORA Drums, Guitar, Piano, Voice, Violin
Emmanuel is a seasoned instructor, teaching music privately since 2013 and in several OC high schools since 2015. He is a multi-instrumentalist, having grown up in a musical household and attending Bob Cole Conservatory for Music Performance. In addition to multiple instruments, he teaches Recording/Production as well.
ANGELE NALBANDIAN
Piano, Voice
Angele started playing the piano at 4 and continued to play the Liturgical Services at church on the pipe organ at 10. She attended University of Massachusetts Music School for piano performance, theory and harmony and voice instruction. Her passion for music and caring personality are perfect for her students young and old.
LEAH GATES
Voice, Piano, Ukulele
Leah holds a bachelor’s degree in General Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. She loves to teach musical theater, pop, Disney, jazz, and classical songs. Her absolute joy is to see her students find a love for music and grow in their confidence with both their voice and piano skills.
JOSEF KAY
Guitar, Drums, Piano
A native of Santa Cruz, California, Josef has over two decades of experience studying, performing, and recording music. He has Masters Degrees from University of California, where he is currently a lecturer. Josef has taught guitar, bass, drum, woodwind, and piano lessons with Dexter Music since 2018.
SHOOKA AFSHAR
Voice, Piano, Flute
Shooka is a classical opera singer from Iran. She holds a Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music in Boston. She composed an opera based on her life story, portraying women who overcome extreme challenges and break free of society’s chains. Her opera, Women / Immigration / Fight or Flight premiered at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston online in March 2021.
CALISTA DOMINGCIL
Voice, Piano, Ukulele
Calista fell in love with music at the age of 7 from always singing with her dad. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Vanguard University and is continuing her studies at California State University, Long Beach where she is working towards her Single Subject Credential in Music. Calista loves teaching, but when she’s not immersed in music you can find her in a dance studio or baking something sweet!
LARRY POJAR
Guitar
Larry’s love of music began with classical piano at the age of five, but ultimately guitar and bass stole his heart. He has taught guitar for 30 years and currently enjoys playing all genres of music in three different musical groups.
MIRELLA MULLINS
Violin, Piano, Guitar, Ukulele
Mirella graduated with a bachelors degree in General Music from Vanguard University. Her love of music began as a child when she learned the violin. Multiple other instruments followed, all of which are favorites. Don’t ask her to choose! She continues her life long passion for music by teaching and sharing it with others.
MEGAN SPANO
Piano, Voice
Megan has a passion for teaching music to others. She is currently pursuing a music degree at Vanguard University and plans to work in the music industry and local church when she graduates. In addition to teaching and song writing, she loves biking and painting.
READ HERSH
Piano
An accomplished classical pianist, Read was awarded Regional Gold Medal in Baroque Interpretation from The Royal Conservatory. As a composer, he is inspired by Bach’s Art of the Fugue, among others, and enjoys teaching piano performance, music theory and music history.
